Day 1: Tbilisi – Omalo
Trip from Tbilisi to Tusheti. Arrival in Telavi through the beautiful Gombori pass (1822m), from where we continue driving along the Alasani valley by passing through the beautiful villages of Kakheti region. On the way short stop at the Alaverdi Monastery(11c). The road to Tusheti starts from the village pshaveli, rough and steep road rises up Great Caucasus mountain ridge and at the elevation 2926 meters crossing Abano overpass. Along the way we pass wonderful scenery and see the most beautiful views - amazing alpine meadows, snowy mountain pikes, glaciers. Through the mountainous road we get village Omalo - the provincial center of Tusheti, Short brake and then see the sights of the village - Visiting Kesalo fortress and ethnographic museum of Tusheti. Overnight in Omalo at the comfortable guesthouse
Day 2: Omalo – Que & Gele - Tbilisi
After breakfast we start the day by driving to the direction Pirikiti Gorge. First we drive to Que. Que is a field surrounded by the pine forest from where we have beautiful views on the Gorge of river Pirikita Alazani. Visitors have possibility to watch Bezoar goats on the opposite rocky forest slope of Gorge (Daytime 4-6pm). Afterwards we continue the way and on the crossroad of Pirikiti, Gometsati and Chagma communities we start walk up to the Gometsari and Pirikiti watershed ridge to the place Ghele – This is a place where in the past all communities of Tusheti have had meetings (gathering). From this place we have beautiful panoramic views on hollow of Tusheti – well visible all Gorges of Tusheti, It overlooks one of the beautiful views of Tusheti. Return to Omalo and then depart to Tbilisi. (B.D.L)
