Tourist Route – TSOVATA

Simple itinerary:

Shuamta

Day 1: Tbilisi – Omalo
Trip from Tbilisi to Tusheti. Arrival in Telavi by the beautiful Gombori Pass, On the way visit new and old Shuamta monasteries (V-XVIIcc). Continue our way to the direction Tusheti. The mountain road is steep and rough passing wonderful forest then open mountain scenery. Have a lunch before pass along the way in nature. We cross Abano pass at an elevation 2926m and then descend to the mountainous Tusheti province. We reach village Omalo (2100m), Sightseeing around the village, Visit kesalo fortress and ethnographical museum of Tusheti. Overnight in Omalo at the guesthouse. Dinner with national dishes and Georgian wine

Day 2: Omalo - Dartlo
Start hike after breakfast at 9am. The route starts from the village Omalo and goes up on the Pirikita-Gometsari Watershed Range Gonta. Along the way visit some beautiful sites of Tusheti – Que and Gele. Gele in traditional Tusheti was a place, where all communities of four valleys had conferences/meetings. The route goes along the north slope of the Watershed range Gonta. It gradually drops down on the foot of the ridge, Crossing Alazani River by bridge and Arrive in Dartlo village. Dartlo attracts its visitors with its architectural assembly and attractive landscape that is why the village are included in the world’s Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. Explore surroundings of the village and enjoy by the views of the Pirikiti valley. Optional visit to village Kvavlo. Overnight in Dartlo at the Guesthouse. Dinner with national dishes and Georgian wine or Chacha

Omalo

Day 3: Dartlo - Parsma – Nakaecho pass - Verkhovani
After breakfast at 9am start trek to the Pirikiti valley. From Dartlo a road goes along the right bank of Pirikita Alazani and the next where you arrive is Chesho. Continuing on along the way from Chesho to Parsma, Where we have a lunch. Sightseeing around village. From Parsma you cross the river Alazani by foot-bridge and continue hiking up to Nakeacho pass at an elevation 2903m. That overlooks one of the most beautiful views of Tusheti. From here path drops down into the Gometsari valley. Along the way you pass through the villages Dadikurta and after Verkhovani. In this sector of path you can also see the villages Jvarboseli, Vediskhevi, Koklata and Alisgori. Overnight - you can either stay in the tent nearby village Verkhovano or in a Guesthouse.

Dartlo

Day 4: Verkhovani – Tsovata - Jvarboseli
Breakfast at 9am. Continue the way to the west side of Gometsari valley to the direction Tsovata valley. The ruined villages of Tsovata valley nowadays is empty. We visit ruins of the villages of Tsovata community Tsaro, Mozarta, Saghirta, Indurta, Etelta. Explore villages and enjoy wonderful views of the beautiful surrounding. Have a lunch on the field of Tsovata Valley and return to the same way in the village Jvarboseli. Overnight stay in Jvarboseli at Guesthouse

Tsovata

Day 5: Jvarboseli – Dochu - Omalo
Morning After breakfast hike along the Gometsari valley. The hike is relatively easy and surrounded with beautiful views. Have a lunch somewhere along the way in nature. On the way visit village Dochu. Sightseeing around the village, enjoy by the views of the surroundings and after continue our way towards Omalo. Overnight in Omalo at Guesthouse. Farewell dinner with traditional dishes and Georgian wine

Gometsari

Day 6: Omalo - Tbilisi After Breakfast Depart to Tbilisi, Along the way visit Alaverdi Monasteri (11c), Lanch in Restourant near Telavi. Arrive in Tbilisi, End tour.
