Day 1: Tbilisi – Omalo
We begin our Trip from Tbilisi, Arrival in Telavi though the beautiful Gombori pass (1822m),On the way visit Ujarma foretress(4-6cc.). Continue driving along the Alasani valley by passing the beautiful villages of Kakheti region. On the way visit Alaverdi Monastery(11c) short excursion.
The road to Tusheti begins from the village pshaveli, It runs deep into the beautiful gorge of the Stori River and then rises up through the breathtaking serpentine and at the elevation 2926 meters crossing the graet Caucasus Ridge over Abano pass. Along the way we pass wonderful scenery and see the most beautiful landscapes of Great Caucasus Mountain - alpine meadows, snowy pikes, glaciers. (lunch en rout in nature)
We begin cycling from the Abano pass, We get down into the beautiful Tusheti hollow, along the way we cross some streams, The road is rough and dirty but picturesque nature and breathtaking views compensate it.
The cycling lasts an hour and a half (Aprx. 18km) and then we continue the way by car.
Through the mountainous road we reach village Omalo - the provincial center of Tusheti. After short brake walking aroud the village Omalo, visit the sights of the village - Kesalo fortress and Ethnographic Museum of Tusheti. Overnight in Omalo at the comfortable guesthouse (D.L.)
Day 2: Omalo - Que – Dochu - Beghela - Iliurta(Gometsari Gorge)
Early morning after breakfast we begin cycling from Omalo to the direction Gometsari Gorge. We cycling through the rough and dirty car way. From the field Mirgvela the way runs on the slope of Makratela ridge at about the elevation 2300 meters and slowly descents into the Gorge, On this segment of the way it presents impressionable views and wonderful landscapes. Continue the way by passing ancient villages of Tusheti: Bochorna (2350m) - one of the highest inhabited village in Georgia, Village Dochu up to day attracts the visitors with its ancient well-preserved dwelling houses. At last we will visit village Iliurta, Explore surroundings of the village, Visit Church of saint Gorge (19c) beautifully standing in the heart of the village. After lunch we return by the same way back to Omalo. En route visit Que view site from where we can obzerve Bezoar Goat (B.D.L)
3 Day: Omalo – Tbilisi
On this day we have driving back to Tbilisi. After breakfast if the weather condition permits, the day we start by cycling. We ride down from the upper Omalo passing the beautiful plateau nearby village lower Omalo - Enjoying with the impressionable views of surroundings, Through the short serpentine we descent to the Alazani river and cross it by bridge nearby village Cokalta, from here we continue cycling along the Chanchakhovani Gorge. Cycling lasts one hour or two then we continue the way by car. En route in Kakheti visit Shuamta monastery (6c). Arriving in Tbilisi in late hours, End of the tour.
